VENUS registry reports first prospective multicenter data on female artificial urinary sphincter
Prospective · Eur Urol Focus · 2026-11-03. Number 1 in the UrologyWatch Top 5 for November 3, 2026.
In a European multicenter prospective registry of women undergoing AMS 800 artificial urinary sphincter implantation for intrinsic sphincter deficiency, 1-year continence rates exceeded 80% with acceptable device survival and manageable complications.
Why it matters: Provides the first prospective multicenter outcomes data supporting a procedure previously reported only in small retrospective series.
Limitation: Single-arm registry without a comparator; longer-term device durability beyond 1 year not yet reported.
