UrologyWatch.com is owned and operated by UrologyMatch, LLC (“we”), which is responsible for the information described here.

UrologyWatch is a free, public website. Everything on it can be read without an account. Creating an account is optional.

Daily email

If you sign up for the daily briefing, we store your email address with our email provider, Resend, and use it only to send the UrologyWatch briefing and the confirmation email that activates it. We do not sell, rent or share your address, and we do not add you to any other list. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, which removes you from future emails immediately.

Accounts

If you create an account, we store your name, email address, the role you choose (for example, medical student or attending physician), and the related details you enter, such as your institution, specialty, medical school or expected graduation year. We use them to run your account and, in aggregate, to understand who reads UrologyWatch. We do not sell, rent or share them.

We do not use passwords. Each sign-in uses a one-time link sent to your email that expires after 30 minutes. While you are signed in, the site keeps a session cookie in your browser; it is used only to keep you signed in, expires after 60 days, and is removed when you sign out. We store only scrambled (hashed) versions of sign-in links and session identifiers.

Medical school and institutional emails. Medical students may confirm a medical school email address, and residents, fellows and faculty may confirm a hospital or university address to display a verified badge. We store the confirmed address and the date it was confirmed. To protect the integrity of medical student content, we may compare a medical student's name and institution with public residency program directories to confirm that the account does not belong to a current resident, fellow or faculty member. We do not contact schools or programs about individual users.

Message board and ratings. Posts made under your name show your name and verified role. Anonymous posts and Sub-I and interview ratings are submitted with single-use cryptographic tokens issued to verified accounts. They are stored without names, email addresses, account identifiers or exact posting times, so they cannot be linked to an account, including by the people who run the site. The words you write can still identify you if they include dates, your school or unique details. Before a post or rating comment appears, its text is checked automatically by an AI model (provided by Anthropic) for personal information and the board rules; the text is used only for that check.

Daily briefing preference. Your choice of whether to receive the daily briefing is recorded with the date you made it. The subscription starts only after you confirm your email. You can turn it off on your account page or with the unsubscribe link in any email without affecting your account.

Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time from your account page. This removes your profile, confirmed emails and sessions. You can choose whether to keep receiving the daily briefing.

Sign-up and sign-in forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to block automated abuse. It checks your browser without tracking cookies.

What we measure

We count page views, daily unique visitors and referring sites without cookies. To tell how many different people visited on a given day, the site combines your IP address and browser type with a random value that changes every day and keeps only a one-way hash of the result; the IP address and browser details themselves are never stored, the daily value is discarded after two days, and visits cannot be linked from one day to the next or to an account. We may also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which likewise uses no cookies and reports only aggregate figures.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

What stays on your device

The site saves your Program Navigator list and a few display settings in your browser’s local storage so they are there when you return. These never leave your device, and you can clear them at any time through your browser settings. If you sign in, the session cookie described above is also stored in your browser.

Third-party content

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, podcast artwork is loaded from each podcast’s hosting service, and Video Corner thumbnails are loaded from YouTube’s image servers (videos are not embedded). Those providers receive standard request information, such as your IP address, when your browser loads their files. Links to articles, journals, podcasts and videos take you to other websites, which have their own privacy practices.
