Plasma proteins including ACP3 and ANXA2 linked to prostate cancer risk over a decade before diagnosis

Prospective · Eur Urol · 2026-10-23. Number 1 in the UrologyWatch Top 5 for October 23, 2026.

In a case-cohort study of EPIC and ARIC participants, several circulating proteins measured years before diagnosis, including ACP3, ANXA2, and KLK3, were associated with future prostate cancer risk, with some signals persisting beyond 15 years.

Why it matters: Suggests additional candidate blood biomarkers for prostate cancer risk stratification, but clinical assays and prospective validation are still needed.

Limitation: Case-cohort design with incomplete external replication and differing endpoint definitions across cohorts.
