Meta-analysis: PSA shows early rise then non-significant decline after water vapor therapy
Meta-analysis · Prostate Cancer Prostatic Dis · 2026-10-08. Number 2 in the UrologyWatch Top 5 for October 12, 2026.
Pooling 13 studies of Rezum water vapor therapy for BPH, PSA rose at 1 month (+2.38 ng/mL) then trended down by last follow-up (-0.44 ng/mL, not statistically significant), a roughly 10% decrease from baseline.
Why it matters: Clinicians should expect a transient post-procedure PSA rise after Rezum and avoid premature biopsy workup based on early PSA kinetics.
