Continuous log odds of positive nodes predicts worse survival after radical cystectomy

Meta-analysis · Clin Genitourin Cancer · 2026-10-09. Number 5 in the UrologyWatch Top 5 for October 9, 2026.

A meta-analysis of 5 retrospective studies (24,978 patients) found continuous LODDS was independently associated with worse overall and cancer-specific survival after radical cystectomy (multivariable HR 1.65 for both). Categorical LODDS cutoffs lost significance in multivariable analysis and showed high heterogeneity (I2>93%).

Why it matters: LODDS may offer a more robust continuous metric for lymph node staging than categorical cutoffs, but prospective validation and standardized cutoffs are still needed.
