Surgical delay of 43+ days to nephroureterectomy linked to worse overall survival in UTUC

Retrospective · Clin Genitourin Cancer · 2026-10-07. Number 3 in the UrologyWatch Top 5 for October 7, 2026.

In 435 patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma, waiting 43 days or more from diagnosis to radical nephroureterectomy was associated with worse overall survival (HR 1.43) after inverse probability weighting, though cancer-specific and recurrence-free survival differences were not statistically significant.

Why it matters: Adds to evidence that timely surgery after UTUC diagnosis may matter, relevant to scheduling and referral pathways.
