New reference curves define expected residual hydronephrosis after pyeloplasty
Retrospective · World J Urol · 2026-09-27. Number 1 in the UrologyWatch Top 5 for September 28, 2026.
In 566 renal units after pyeloplasty, postoperative APD reference curves were built from units without recurrence. Renal pelvic APD above the 90th centile curve was linked to a much higher reoperation rate (11.7% vs 0.8%).
Why it matters: Offers an objective benchmark to decide which children with residual postoperative dilation need closer follow-up versus reassurance.
